Hi Carl. There's quite a bit of controversy locally (on Rarotonga) about the new departure tax. Most people think it's a bad idea, particularly with the global economy being as bad as it is now. Not a good way to encourage people to come here although it wouldn't be so bad if it could be paid for as part of the ticket.
